গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং এবং গ্রীন হাউস এফেক্ট নিয়ে ছোটবেলা থেকেই অনেক কিছু পড়ে আসছি । যার মোদ্দা কথা হল পরিবেশ দূষন এবং গাছপালা কেটে ফেলার ফলে গ্রীনহাউস গ্যাসের পরিমাণ বাড়ছে ফলে সূর্য থেকে তাপ বিকিরিত হয়ে পৃথিবীতে ঢোকার পর যতটা আবার পৃথিবীর বাইরে বিকিরিত হওয়া উচিত তা হচ্ছে না ফলে পৃথিবীর তাপমাত্রা ক্রমশ বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে । এবং পৃথিবীর তাপমাত্রা ক্রমশ বৃদ্ধি পাবার ফলে মেরুপ্রদেশের বরফ গলে যাবে এবং সমুদ্রের জলস্তর বৃদ্ধি পেয়ে পৃথিবীর বহু জায়গা ডুবিয়ে দেবে ।

পুরো ব্যাপারটার মধ্যেই কেমন একটা যেন মানুষের পাপের ফলই হল গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং এরকম একটা বার্তা লুকিয়ে রয়েছে । এবং এই সবই আমরা মুখস্ত করে এসেছি । কিছুদিন আগে The Great Global Warming Swindle নামে একটি তথ্যচিত্র দেখেছিলাম এই তথ্যচিত্রটিতে দাবি করা হয়েছিল অবশ্যই কিছু বাঘা বাঘা বৈজ্ঞানিক এবং পরিবেশবিদদের সাক্ষাৎকার সহযোগে যে গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং এর জন্য মানুষ দায়ী নয় । পৃথিবীর তাপমাত্রা বাড়া কমা খুব স্বাভাবিক একটা ব্যাপার । এবং পৃথিবীর পরিবেশ সব সময়েই পরিবর্তিত হয়ে আসছে । পরে অবশ্য নেটে খোঁজ খবর নিয়ে জানলাম যে এই তথ্যচিত্রটি নিয়েও প্রচুর বিতর্ক এবং সন্দেহ আছে । তবে গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং-এর পিছনে বিরাট রাজনীতির খেলা আছে সেটা বুঝতে কোন অসুবিধা হয় না ।

গত কিছু বছরে গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং সংক্রান্ত রিসার্চ এর পিছনে বহু টাকা ব্যয় করা হয়েছে । অনেকেরই বক্তব্য যে বিজ্ঞানের এই শাখায় এত বেশি টাকা আসায় বিজ্ঞানের অন্য শাখাগুলি ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হচ্ছে । বেশ কিছু সাংবাদিক, চ্যানেল, কাগজ, পত্রিকা এবং বিজ্ঞানী গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং বেচে বেশ ভালোই উপার্জন করছেন । আবার এই বছরের নোবেল শান্তি পুরস্কারের সঙ্গেও জড়িয়ে গেছে গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং । বলা যেতে পারে যে গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং নিজেই এখন একটা সিস্টেম এবং ইন্ডাস্ট্রি । এবং এক রকমের পপ কালচারও বটে ।

ইদানীং গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং নিয়ে একটু আধটু পড়াশোনা করতে গিয়ে বেশ কিছু বেসিক তথ্য নজরে এল । যেমন : গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং হয় গ্রিনহাউস গ্যাসের কারণে । আর সবথেকে বড় গ্রিনহাউস গ্যাস হল জলীয় বাষ্প । জলীয় বাষ্প ৩৬-৭০ শতাংশ পর্যন্ত গ্রিন হাউস এফেক্টের জন্য দায়ী । আর এই জলীয় বাষ্পের মধ্যে কিন্তু মেঘ পড়ছে না । কার্বন ডাই অক্সাইডের গ্রিনহাউস এফেক্টের জন্য দায়িত্ব ৯-২৬ শতাংশ । মিথেন ৪-৯ শতাংশ । ওজোন ৩-৭ শতাংশ । এখানে মানব সভ্যতার দায়িত্ব মূলত কার্বন ডাই অক্সাইড এবং মিথেনের পরিমান বায়ুমন্ডলে বাড়াবার জন্য । তবে মনে রাখতে হবে যে কলকারখানা ও পরিবহন ছাড়াও আরও বহু প্রাকৃতিক ভাবে কার্বন ডাই অক্সাইড তৈরি হয় । যেমন আগ্নেয়গিরিগুলি থেকে এবং জঙ্গলের প্রানীদের মৃতদেহ এবং গাছের তলায় পড়ে থাকা পাতা পচেও কার্বন ডাই অক্সাইড তৈরি হয় । এবং মানুষ সহ সমস্ত প্রানীর শ্বাসকার্যের ফলেও কার্বন ডাইঅক্সাইড তৈরি হয় ।

গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং এর আর একটা বড় কারন সোলার ভ্যারিয়েশন । বা সূর্য থেকে বিকিরিত শক্তির বাড়া কমা যাতে মানুষের কোন হাত নেই । ১৯৪০ এর পর থেকে পৃথিবীতে কার্বন ডাই অক্সাইডের পরিমান ক্রমশ বেড়েছে । কিন্তু ১৯৭৫ সাল অবধি পৃথিবীর তাপমাত্রা কমেছে । পৃথিবীর ইতিহাসে বর্তমান কার্বন ডাই অক্সাইডের পরিমান এবং তাপমাত্রার চেয়ে বেশি এর আগেও ছিল । যেমন ডাইনোসররা যখন পৃথিবীতে পুরোদমে রাজত্ব করছে তখন পৃথিবীর বায়ুমন্ডলে কার্বন ডাই অক্সাইডের পরিমান এখন থেকে বারো গুন পর্যন্ত বেশি ছিল । সেই সময় পৃথিবীর গড় তাপমাত্রা এখন থেকে বেশি ছিল এবং মেরু প্রদেশে কোন বরফ ছিল না । সেই সময়ে সমুদ্রের উচ্চতাও এখন থেকে ১০০ থেকে ২৫০ মিটার অবধি বেশি ছিল । 

গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং কে আটকাতে যে সমস্ত গাইডলাইন তৈরি হয়েছে সেগুলিকে গরীব এবং উন্নয়নশীল দেশগুলির উপর জোর করে চাপিয়ে দেওয়ার অভিযোগ উঠেছে । জীবাশ্ম জ্বালানির বদলে যদি সৌরশক্তি বায়ুশক্তির মত অপ্রচলিত শক্তি ব্যবহার করা হয় তাহলে হয়ত কয়েকটা বাড়িতে আলো পাখা চালানো যেতে পারে কিন্তু বড় বড় শিল্প গড়ে তোলা সম্ভব নয় । ভাবুন তো একটা লৌহ ইস্পাত শিল্প কি কখনো সৌরশক্তি বা বায়ুশক্তির সাহায্যে গড়ে তোলা যেতে পারে না সৌর শক্তি দিয়ে নিয়মিতভাবে ট্রেন চালানো যেতে পারে । তাহলে কি উন্নয়নশীল দেশগুলি কি গাইডলাইন মানতে গিয়ে শিল্পোন্নয়ন করবে না ।

জীবাশ্ম জ্বালানি ব্যবহারের ফলে পৃথিবীতে কার্বন-ডাই-অক্সাইডের পরিমান বাড়তে বাড়তে পৃথিবীকে একেবারে অবসবাসযোগ্য করে দেবে একথা ব্যক্তিগত ভাবে আমার মনে হয় না । কারণ যতই হোক জীবাশ্ম জ্বালানীর পরিমান সীমিত । পৃথিবীর ধ্বংসের অনেক আগেই মনে হয় তা ফুরিয়ে যাবে । গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং থিয়োরির পক্ষে ও বিপক্ষে বহু মানুষ আছেন । এই থিয়োরির বিপক্ষে যাঁরা তাঁরা এটাকে স্রেফ প্রোপাগান্ডা ছাড়া কিছুই মনে করেন না । আর এই থিয়োরির পক্ষে যাঁরা তাঁরা বিপক্ষকে উড়িয়ে দেন এই বলে যে তাদের পিছনে আছে বড় বড় তেল কম্পানিগুলি । দুপক্ষের মতামত পড়ে বুঝে ওঠা খুব মুশকিল যে কারা ঠিক । তবে সাধারন ভাবে শক্তি সাশ্রয়ের নিয়মগুলি মেনে চললে তা গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিংকে কতটা আটকাবে তা জানা নেই তবে আমাদের পকেটের পক্ষে অবশ্যই কিছু সাশ্রয় আনবে ।

বিজ্ঞানী টমাস আলভা এডিসন

 

টমাস আলভা এডিসনের জন্ম ১৮৪৭ সালের ১১ ফেব্রুয়ারি কানাডার মিলানে। তাঁর পিতা ছিলেন ওলন্দাজ বংশোদ্ভুত। এ সময় তাঁর পিতার আর্থিক সচ্ছলতা ছিল। ফলে এডিসনের ছেলেবেলার দিনগুলো ছিল আনন্দদায়ক। সাত বছর বয়সে এডিসনের পিতা মিশিগানের অন্তর্গত পোর্ট হারান নামে একটা শহরে এসে নতুন করে বসবাস শুরু করলেন। এডিসন স্কুলে ভর্তি হলেন। তিনি অসম্ভব মেধার অধিকারী ছিলেন। কিন্তু স্কুলের গন্ডিবাঁধা পড়াশুনা তাঁর নিকট একঘেঁয়েমি মনে হত। পড়াশুনায় কোনো মনোযোগ নেই, শিক্ষকদের অভিযোগ শুনে ক্ষুব্ধ হতেন। ফলে স্কুল ছাড়িয়ে আনলেন। এখানেই এডিসনের তিন মাসের স্কুল জীবনের সমাপ্তি ঘটল। আর কোনদিন স্কুলে যান নি এডিসন। এবার মায়ের নিকট তাঁর পড়াশুনা শুরু হল।
 
এডিসন ছোটবেলা থেকে পারিপার্শ্বিক যা কিছু আছে, যা দৈনন্দিন জীবনে ব্যবহৃত হয়, পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা করলেন এগুলো নিয়ে। বেশ মজার ঘটনা। একবার তিনি মুরগির মতো ডিম ফুটিয়ে বাচ্চা বের করতে পারেন কিনা তা দেখবার জন্য ঘরের এক কোণে ডিম সাজিয়ে বসে পড়লেন। এর কয়েক বছর পর তিনি বাড়িতে পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা করার জন্য একটা ছোট ল্যাবরেটরি তৈরি করলেন। কিছুদিন যেতেই তিনি হাতে-কলমে পরীক্ষার জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় যন্ত্রপাতি ও সরঞ্জাম কিনে ফেললেন। এ সময় বাবার আর্থিক অবস্থা খারাপ হওয়ায় তিনি স্থির করলেন কাজ করে অর্থ সংগ্রহ করবেন। 
 
তেরো বছরের ছেলে কাজ করবে! তাঁর বাবা-মা দু’জনে রীতিমত অবাক। এডিসনের জেদ চাকরি করবে। অগত্যা আর কি করা, বাবা-মা দু’জনে রাজি হলেন। এডিসন অনেক খোঁজাখুঁজির পর খবরের কাগজ ফেরি করার কাজ পেলেন। আরো বেশকিছু আয় করার জন্য তিনি খবরের কাগজের সহিত চকলেট বাদামও রেখে দিতেন। এভাবে কয়েক মাসের মধ্যে বেশকিছু অর্থ সংগ্রহ হল।
 
এ সময় এডিসন জানতে পেলেন একটি ছোট ছাপাখানা যন্ত্র কম দামে বিক্রি হবে। তিনি যে সামান্য অর্থ জমিয়েছিলেন তাই দিয়ে ছাপাখানার যন্ত্রপাতি কিনে ফেললেন। এবার নিজেই একটি পত্রিকা বের করলেন। একইসঙ্গে সংবাদ সংগ্রহ করা, সম্পাদনা করা, ছাপানো, বিক্রি করা, সমস্ত কাজ করতেন। অল্পদিনেই তাঁর কাগজের বিক্রির সংখ্যা বৃদ্ধি পেল। লাভ হল একশো ডলার। তখন তাঁর বয়স ছিল পনেরো। 
 
একদিন এডিসন লক্ষ করলেন, একটি ছেলে রেল লাইনের উপর খেলা করছে। দূরে একটি ওয়াগন এগিয়ে আসছে। ছেলেটির সেদিকে নজর নেই। বিপদ আসন্ন বুঝতে পেরে হাতের কাগজ ফেলে দিয়ে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়লেন লাইনের উপর। আর ছেলেটি কেউ নয়। স্টেশন মাস্টারের একমাত্র ছেলে। কৃতজ্ঞ স্টেশন মাস্টার যখন এডিসনকে পুরষ্কার দিতে চাইলেন, এডিসন সে সময় টেলিগ্রাফ শেখবার ইচ্ছা প্রকাশ করলেন। স্টেশন মাস্টার রাজি হলেন মহানন্দে। আর কয়েক মাসের মধ্যেই এডিসন টেলিগ্রাফি শেখা রপ্ত করে নিলেন। এর সঙ্গে সাংকেতিক লিপি ও তার অর্থ বুঝতে সক্ষম হলেন।

অত্যন্ত পরিশ্রমী ছিলেন এডিসন। একবার স্টাফোর্ড জংশনে রাত্রিবেলায় ট্রেন ছাড়ার সিগনাল দেওয়ার কাজ পেলেন। রাত জেগে কাজ করতে হত এবং দিনের বেলায় সামান্য কিছুক্ষণ ঘুমিয়ে নিয়ে নিজের গবেষণার কাজ করতেন। এ সময় তিনি একটি ঘড়ি তৈরি করলেন যেটি আপনা থেকেই নির্দিষ্ট সময়ে সিগনাল দিত। এর পরে বোস্টন শহরে কাজ করার সময় দেখলেন, অফিস জুড়ে ভীষণ ইঁদুরের উৎপাত। তিনি হঠাৎ করে একটি যন্ত্র উদ্ভাবন করলেন যা সহজেই ইঁদুর ধ্বংস করতে সক্ষম। 
 
তিনি ১৮৬৯ সালে বোস্টনে চাকরিরত অবস্থায় একটি যন্ত্র আবিষ্কার করলেন যা দিয়ে ভোল্ট গণনা করা যায়। এই যন্ত্রের গুণাগুণ বিবেচনা করে উদ্ভাবক হিসেবে তাঁকে পেটেন্ট দেওয়া হল। আর এই পেটেন্ট এডিসনের জীবনে এক নতুন অধ্যায়ের সূচনা করে। এরপর বোস্টন শহর ছেড়ে চলে এলেন নিউইয়র্কে। হাতে মোটেও পয়সা নেই। খাওয়া হয় নি দু’দিন ধরে। এক টেলিগ্রাফ অপারেটরের সাথে পরিচয় ঘটল। সে এডিসনকে এক ডলার ধার দিয়ে গোল্ড ইনডিকেটর কোম্পানির ব্যাটারি ঘরে থাকার ব্যবস্থা করে দিলেন। সেখানে দু’দিন কেটে গেল। তৃতীয় দিন তিনি খেয়াল করলেন ট্রান্সমিটারটি খারাপ হয়ে গিয়েছে। ম্যানেজারের অনুমতিক্রমে তিনি অল্পক্ষণের মধ্যেই ট্রান্সমিটারটি মেরামত করে ফেললেন। এর ফলে তিনি কারখানার ফোরম্যান হিসেবে চাকরি পেলেন। তাঁর মাইনে ছিল ৩০০ ডলার। কিছুদিনের মধ্যেই তিনি নিজের যোগ্যতা বলে ম্যানেজার পদে উন্নীত হলেন। 
 
এই অর্থ দিয়ে তিনি নিজের প্রয়োজনীয় যন্ত্রপাতি কিনে গবেষণার কাজে লাগাতেন। গোল্ড ইনডিকেটর কোম্পানি টেলিগ্রাফের জন্য এক ধরনের যন্ত্র তৈরি করত যার ফিতের উপর সংবাদ লেখা হত। এ সময় এডিসনের মনে হল বর্তমান ব্যবস্থার চেয়ে আরো উন্নত ধরনের যন্ত্র তৈরি করা সম্ভব। এজন্যে প্রয়োজন নিরবচ্ছিন্ন পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষার। এ সময় চাকরিতে ইস্তফা দিলেন এডিসন। কয়েক মাস প্রচণ্ড পরিশ্রমের পর উদ্ভাবন করলেন এক নতুন যন্ত্র। এটি আগের চেয়ে অনেক উন্নত এবং সেই সঙ্গে এর উৎপাদন ব্যয়ও কম। তিনি এ যন্ত্রটি নিয়ে গেলেন গোল্ড ইনডিকেটর কোম্পানীর মালিকের নিকট। এতে মালিক খুশি হলেন। এডিসনকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, কত দামে সে যন্ত্রটি বিক্রি করবে? এডিসন বললেন, যদি পাঁচ হাজার ডলার দাম বেশি হয়, আবার তিন হাজার ডলার খুব কম হয় তবে কোম্পানী স্থির করুক তারা কি দামে যন্ত্রটি কিনবে। কোম্পানীর মালিক এডিসনকে চল্লিশ হাজার দিয়ে বললেন, আশা করি আপনাকে আমরা সন্তুষ্ট করতে পেরেছি। এডিসন তো হতবাক!
 
এই প্রচুর অর্থ বিজ্ঞানী এডিসনের জীবনে এক অভাবনীয় পরিবর্তন এনে দিল। এতদিন তিনি অন্যের অধীনস্থ হয়ে কাজ করতেন। এবার কয়েক মাসের চেষ্টায় নিউজার্সিতে তৈরি হল তাঁর কারখানা। তিনি সেখানে দিবারাত্রি কাজ করতেন। রাত্রে মাত্র কয়েক ঘণ্টা বিশ্রাম নিতেন। এ কারখানাটি ছিল প্রকৃতপক্ষে একটি গবেষণাগার। কয়েক বছরের মধ্যেই এডিসন প্রায় একশোটির বেশি নতুন উদ্ভাবন করে তার পেটেন্ট নিলেন। এগুলি বিক্রি করে পেলেন প্রচুর অর্থ। এডিসন এবার নিজের কারখানায় কাজ করতে করতে পুনরায় আকৃষ্ট হলেন টেলিগ্রাফির দিকে। অল্পদিনেই তৈরি হল ডুপ্লেক্স টেলিগ্রাফ পদ্ধতি। এর সাহায্যে দুটি বার্তা একই সাথে একই তারের মধ্যে দিয়ে দুই দিকে পাঠানো সম্ভব। এরপরে একই সময়ে একই তারের মধ্যে দিয়ে একাধিক বার্তা প্রেরণ করতে সক্ষম হলেন। আর এই পদ্ধতির সাহায্যে টেলিগ্রাফ ব্যবস্থার যে শুধু অসাধারণ উন্নতি হল তাই নয়, বরং খরচও কয়েকগুণ হ্রাস পেল।  
 
তিনি ১৮৭৬ সালে তাঁর নতুন কারখানা স্থাপন করলেন মেনলো পার্কে। এখানে একদিকে তাঁর গবেষণাগার অন্যদিকে কারখানা। এই মেনলো পার্কে বিজ্ঞানী এডিসনের প্রথম উল্লেখযোগ্য আবিষ্কার টেলিফোন ব্যবস্থার আধুনিকীকরণ। আলেকজান্ডার গ্রাহামবেল আবিষ্কার করেছিলেন টেলিফোন, কিন্তু ব্যবহারের ক্ষেত্রে বহুবিধ সমস্যা দেখা গিয়েছিল। এডিসন কয়েক মাসের চেষ্টায় তৈরি করলেন কার্বন ট্রান্সমিটার। আর এর সহায়তায় গ্রাহকদের প্রতিটি কথা স্পষ্ট এবং পরিষ্কারভাবে শোনা গেল। চতুর্দিকে সুনাম ছড়িয়ে পড়ল এডিসনের। 
 
এডিসন দীর্ঘদিন মানুষের শ্রবণ যন্ত্র নিয়ে কাজ করেছিলেন। এবার তিনি স্থির করলেন ইলেকট্রিক কারেন্টকে কাজে লাগিয়ে আলো জ্বালাবেন। সে সময় এক ধরনের বৈদ্যুতিক আলো ছিল কিন্তু তা ব্যবহারের উপযোগী ছিল না। প্রথমেই তিনি এমন একটি ধাতুর সন্ধান করেছিলেন যার মধ্যে কারেন্ট প্রবাহিত করলে উজ্জ্বল আলো বিকিরণ করে। তিনি বিভিন্ন রকমের ধাতু নিয়ে ১৬০০ রকমের পরীক্ষা করলেন। অবশেষে দীর্ঘ প্রচেষ্টার পর তৈরি করলেন কার্বন ফিলামেন্ট। 

তিনি শুধু বাল্বের উপর পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা করছিলেন। এরপর প্রয়োজন দেখা দিল সমগ্র বিদ্যুৎ সরবরাহ ব্যবস্থার উন্নতি সাধনে তৎপর হলেন। তিনি তৈরি করলেন নতুন এক ধরনের ডাইনামো, বিদ্যুৎ সরবরাহ ব্যবস্থার জেনারেটর থেকে শুরু করে ল্যাম্প তৈরি করা প্রভৃতি। নিউইয়র্কে প্রথম বিদ্যুৎ সরবরাহ কেন্দ্র গড়ে উঠল যার অগ্রনায়ক ছিলেন বিজ্ঞানী এডিসন। 

এবার এডিসন তাঁর বিখ্যাত মেনলো পার্ক ছেড়ে ওয়েস্ট অরেঞ্জে চলে এলেন। ১৮৪৭ সালের ঘটনা। এসময় তিনি শব্দের গতির মতো কীভাবে ছবির গতি আনা যায় তাই নিয়ে শুরু করলেন ব্যাপক গবেষণা। মাত্র দু’বছরের মধ্যে উদ্ভাবন করলেন ‘কিনেটোগ্রাফ’ যা গতিশীল ছবি তোলবার জন্য প্রথম ক্যামেরা। ১৯২২ সালে এডিসন আবিষ্কার করলেন কিনেটোফো যা সংযুক্ত করা সিনেমার ক্যামেরার সাথে। এরই ফলে তৈরি হল সবাক চিত্র। 
 
এই পরিশ্রমী বিজ্ঞানী অবশেষে ১৯৩১ সালের ১৮ অক্টোবর মৃত্যুবরণ করলেন। তাঁর মৃত্যুর পর নিউইয়র্ক পত্রিকায় ছাপা হয়েছিল, ‘মানুষের ইতিহাসে এডিসনের মাথার দাম সবচেয়ে বেশি। কারণ এমন সৃজনীশক্তি অন্য কোনো মানুষের মধ্যে দেখা যায় নি।’

An Easy Way To Relieve Anxiety

When I am in cold I shake, but I feel fine. When I´m anxious I shake and I feel scared!! When I run fast my heart palpitates and I feel fine, even enjoy it. When my heart palpitates from anxiety I feel terrified! When I go on a rollercoaster my stomach churns with excitement and I have a thrill. When I am in a stressful situation my stomach churns and I feel terrible, and very scared, like I want to get sick.

On a hot day I sweat, but I feel calm. When I am stressed about something I sweat and I feel scared. Whats the difference in these two scenarios for when you feel scared and when you dont? In one you are comfortable feeling the symptoms and in the other examples not! Learn to live with your symptoms. Become confortable feeling uncomfortable. Learn to accept how you feel! Stop fighting it, surrender to it. Experience it. It is nothing more than a physiological feeling. Has it ever done you any harm? NO! And guess what it never will! Thats the beautiful truth! The problem is it is bluffing you. Anxiety and panic are th biggest con men of all time. Look at them for what they are. Experience them. Let it all happen. They are totally harmless!

We all want our anxiety to just dissappear and go away. This would be great of course. But unfortunately it just don´t work like that! If you´ve ever injured yourself, or cut yourself by accident you know it would have been pretty unrealistic to expect the injury or cut to heal immediately and be as good as new, just like that. It´s because the natural process of healing takes time.

 And it´s exactly the same with anxiety. Your body and mind are tired. Just like a sprained ankle their recovery depends on enough time to pass for their recovery. If you sprained your ankle would you go running the next day? Of course you wouldn´t. remember that your mind and body need time. Have faith that as long as you are not letting the anxiety get to you, that you float forward and try to practise, although it may be hard, to accept that you suffer, then you will let your body and mind refresh. Learn to live with your anxiety. Accept it as part of your life. And then it will lessen.

মস্তিস্ক জমে যায় কেন?

 

অনেক মানুষই ঠাণ্ডা খাবার খাওয়ার পর মস্তিস্ক দুর্বল করে দেয়ার মত তাৎক্ষণিক ব্যাথা অনুভব করেন। একে ব্রেন ফ্রিজ (Brain Freeze) বা (Ice-cream Headache) বলা হয়ে থাকে। কিছু পর্যবেক্ষণে দেখা যায়, যাঁরা মাইগ্রেনে ভুক্তভোগী তাঁরা সাধারণ মানুষ হতে তুলনামূলক বেশি এ ব্যাথাটি বেশি অনুভব করেন। এ কারণে আগে ধারনা করা হতো ব্রেন ফ্রিজ ও মাইগ্রেনের পেছনে একই ধরনের ব্যাখ্যা রয়েছে।

মাথা ব্যাথা বা মাইগ্রেন পর্যবেক্ষণ বেশ কঠিন, কারণ তা আগে থেকে বোঝা যায় না। ফলে গবেষকরা পরীক্ষাগারে একটি মাইগ্রেনের ব্যাথার প্রথম থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত পর্যবেক্ষণ করতে পারেন না। তাঁরা মাইগ্রেনের জন্য ওষুধ প্রয়োগ করতে পারেন কিন্তু তার পার্শ্ব প্রতিক্রিয়াও থাকতে পারে।

অপরদিকে, ব্রেন ফ্রিজ ধরনের মাথা ব্যাথা পরীক্ষাগারে সহজেই সৃষ্টি করা যায়, আবার এটি সহজেই কমে যায় বলে সম্পূর্ণ ব্যাপারটি পর্যবেক্ষণে সহজ হয়। ১৩ জন সেচ্ছাসেবক এর সহযোগিতায় গবেষকরা পরীক্ষাটি সম্পন্ন করেন। তাদের প্রত্যেককে ঠাণ্ডা পানি, পাইপ দিয়ে পান করতে দেয়া হয়। যখন ব্রেন ফ্রিজ ঘটতে থাকে তখন তাদের মস্তিস্ক আলট্রাসাইন্ড পদ্ধতির মাধ্যমে পর্যবেক্ষণ করা হয়।

পর্যবেক্ষণে দেখা যায়, চোখের পেছনে অবস্থিত মস্তিস্কের (Anterior Celeberal Artery) নামক নালী দিয়ে অতিরিক্ত রক্তপ্রবাহ ঘটে এবং রক্তনালীটি প্রসারিত হয়। ঠিক তখনই ব্রেন ফ্রিজ এর ফলে মস্তিস্কের টিস্যুতন্ত্রে অত্যাধিক চাপ পরে যেটি অত্যাধিক রক্ত প্রবাহের কারণে হয়ে থাকে। এর ফলে ব্যাথা অনুভূত হয়। এ ব্যাপারে চিকিৎসকদের মতামত, “যদি অন্যান্য মাথা ব্যাথাও এভাবে কাজ করে তাহলে রক্তনালীকে সঙ্কুচিত করার ওষুধ সেবন করা উচিত, যা মস্তিস্কের টিস্যুতন্ত্রে চাপ কমিয়ে আনে এবং ব্যাথা দূর করে”।

According to Richard Parncutt, Professor of Systematic Musicology at the University of Graz, music psychology investigates why humans spend so much time, effort and money on musical activities; and it does this by combining the academic study of music (musicology) with the academic study of human individuals (psychology). Areas of psychology frequently drawn upon within the psychology of music include, biopsychology, perception, cognition, creativity, motivation and emotion.

The modern, international field of music psychology is gradually exploring a multitude of issues that surround the question of why humans spend enormous amounts of time, effort, and money on musical activities. Music psychology may be regarded as scientific research about human culture. The results of this research have, and will continue to have, direct implications for matters of general concern: human values, human identity, human nature, and quality of life.

Psychology of Music publishes peer reviewed papers directed at increasing the scientific understanding of any psychological aspect of music. These include studies on listening, performing, creating, memorising, analysing, describing, learning, and teaching, as well as applied social, developmental, attitudinal and therapeutic studies

Music psychology, or the psychology of music, may be regarded as a branch of psychology, a branch of musicology or as a field integrating with clinical music therapy. It aims to explain and understand musical behavior and musical experience. Modern music psychology is mainly empirical: music-psychological knowledge tends to advance primarily on the basis of interpretations of data about musical behavior and experience, which are collected by systematic observation of and interaction with human participants.

Music psychology can shed light on non-psychological aspects of musicology and musical practice. For example, music psychology contributes to music theory by investigating the perception of musical structures such as melody, harmony, tonality, rhythm, meter, and form. Research in music history can benefit from psychologically inspired, systematic study of the history of musical syntax, or from psychological analyses of the personalities of composers in relation to the psychological effect of their music.

হিটলার এবং কিছু মজার তথ্য

হিটলার সম্পর্কে মজার তেমন তথ্য না থাকলেও চিত্তাকর্ষক কাহিনীর শেষ নেই। হিটলারের জীবন সম্পর্কে, তার চালচলন সম্পর্কে আমাদের যেন কৌতূহলের শেষ নেই। হিটলারের ওপর এমনই কিছু তথ্য তুলে ধরা হলো-

ব্যক্তিগত বহিঃপ্রকাশ-

*হিটলারের গোসলের সময় কারো প্রবেশানুমতি ছিল না। তিনি কখনও কোন পারফিউম বা সুগন্ধি ব্যবহার করতেন না।

*যত গরমই লাগুক না কেন তিনি জনসম্মুখে কখনও তার ব্যবহৃত কোটটি খুলতেন না।

*১৯২৩ সালে নাজি প্রেস সেক্রেটারি ড. সেজুইক হিটলারকে ছোট গোঁফ স্বাভাবিকভাবে বড় করার জন্য উৎসাহ দিয়েছিলেন। গোঁফ বড় করার বিষয়ে হিটলারকে বোঝানোর চেষ্টা করেছিলেন তিনি। প্রতিউত্তরে হিটলার বলেছিলেন, ‘আমার গোঁফ নিয়ে উদ্বিগ্ন হইও না যদিও এই ছোট গোঁফ এখন ফ্যাশন না তবে পরবর্তীতে এটাই ফ্যাশন হয়ে যাবে।

*হিটলারের শারীরিক ওজন ছিল ১৫৫ পাউন্ড আর উচ্চতায় ছিলেন ৫ ফিট ১০ ইঞ্চি।

 সামাজিক আচরণ-

*যখন তিনি খেতে বসতেন তখন অপ্রাসঙ্গিক বা স্বাভাবিক গল্পগুজব করতেন। কিছু মুহূর্তের ব্যবধানেই তিনি তার জীবনের পথচলার ও অন্যান্য চলমান ঘটনার গল্প করতেন। গল্প বলার ধরণটি ছিল বিরতিহীন।

* তার আলোচনায় ঘুরেফিরে যে বিষয়টি তিনি উল্লেখ করতেন তা হলো, ‘যখন আমি সৈনিক ছিলাম, যখন আমি ভিয়েনায় ছিলাম, যখন আমি জেলে ছিলাম, যখন শুরুর দিকে দলের নেতা ছিলাম ...।’

*যদি হিটলার ওয়াগনার বা অপেরা সম্বন্ধে কিছু বলতে শুরু করতেন কারও সাহস ছিল না তার কথার মাঝে কথা বলার। এমন কি শ্রোতারা একপর্যায়ে যদি ঝিমিয়েও পড়তেন তবুও তিনি কথা থামাতেন না।

 ব্যক্তিগত কিছু অভ্যাস-

*খেলাধূলা কিংবা কোন ধরনের শরীরচর্চার ওপর হিটলারের কোন আকর্ষণ ছিল না। তিনি এগুলো করতেন না। তবে তিনি মাঝে মাঝে হাঁটাহাঁটি করতেন।

*তিনি তার নিজ কক্ষে কর্ণার থেকে কর্ণার আড়াআড়িভাবে একই গতিতে হাঁটাহাঁটি করতেন।

*হিটলারের হাতের লেখা ছিল একেবারে নিখুঁত। ১৯৩৭ সালে বিখ্যাত মনস্তাত্ত্বিক কার্ল জাং হিটলারের একটি লেখা দেখে মন্তব্য করেন, এই হাতের লেখা দেখে আমাকে স্বীকার করতেই হয় যে এটা মেয়েলী প্রকৃতির।

 বিনোদন-

*হিটলারের বিনোদনের জন্য তার অধীনস্থ কর্মচারীরা সঙ্গোপনে রাজবন্দীদের নির্যাতন ও তাদের মৃত্যুদণ্ড কার্যকরের ভিডিওচিত্র দিয়ে চলচ্চিত্র বানাতেন। বলাই বাহুল্য, এ ধরনের চলচ্চিত্র বেশ উপভোগ করতেন তিনি। হিটলারের নির্বাহী সহযোগী কর্মকর্তারা তার জন্য পর্নো ও চলচ্চিত্রও সংরক্ষণ করে রাখতেন।

*‘অ্যামেরিকান কলেজ’ ফুটবলে যে ধরনের মিউজিক ব্যবহার করা হয় সাধারণ আম-জনতার মাঝে উত্তেজনা ছড়িয়ে দিতে হিটলার তার বক্তৃতার সময় সে ধরনের মিউজিক ব্যবহার করতেন। অ্যামেরিকান ফুটবলের চিয়ারলিডাররা দর্শকদের উদ্বুদ্ধ করার জন্য যে কৌশল অনুসরণ করতো, সেই একই কৌশল অবলম্বন করে সভা-সমাবেশে ‘সিয়েগ হেইল!’ বলে শ্লোগান দিয়ে দর্শকদের উজ্জীবিত করতেন হিটলার।

*হিটলার সার্কাস দেখতে পছন্দ করতেন। সার্কাসের কসরতকারীদের ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ অভিনয় হিটলারকে বেশি আনন্দ দিতো। ১৯৩৩ সালে তিনি অনেকবার সার্কাস দেখেছেন বলে জানা যায়। সার্কাসের নারী কসরতকারীদের তিনি দামী চকোলেট ও ফুল দিতেন। এমনকি মাঝে মাঝেই হিটলার তাদের নাম স্মরণ করতেন, তাদের পরিবার, তাদের ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ পেশা নিয়ে উদ্বিগ্নও হতেন।

*তিনি আদিমতা বা বন্যদের মতো অভিনয় (আচরণ), মেয়েদের বিপদে পড়াকে কখনও সমর্থন বা পছন্দ করতেন না।
